Duplex Stainless Steels (including standard grades like Alloy 2205 / UNS S32205 / S31803, lean duplex alloys like Alloy 2201 / S32201 and Alloy 2304 / S32304, and early-generation alloys such as AISI 329 / S32900) possess a distinctive two-phase metallurgical microstructure with approximately equal volume fractions of austenite (FCC) and ferrite (BCC).
