High Moly Stainless Steel

Material Specifications

High Moly Stainless Steels (including 6% molybdenum super austenitic alloys like 254SMO® / UNS S31254, AL-6XN® / UNS N08367, and AISI 926 / 1.4529, as well as severe-acid alloys like AISI 904L, Alloy 20 / Carpenter 20 Cb-3, and precipitation-hardened high-temp Alloy A286) represent high-performance austenitic alloys formulated with elevated molybdenum contents (ranging from 4.0% to over 7.0%) combined with high nickel (18%–38%), chromium (19%–27%), nitrogen (0.15%–0.25%), and copper. This advanced metallurgy imparts an exceptional Pitting Resistance Equivalent Number (PREN ≥ 43–45), bridging the gap between conventional austenitic stainless steels and high-cost nickel superalloys. Delivering outstanding resistance to chloride-induced pitting, severe crevice corrosion in stagnant warm seawater, stress corrosion cracking (SCC), and aggressive reducing media such as hot sulfuric, phosphoric, and organic acids, High Moly Stainless Steel bolts, heavy hex studs, nuts, socket cap screws, and engineered fasteners are the premier bolting solution for marine scrubber towers, offshore oil & gas platforms, seawater reverse osmosis desalination plants, pulp and paper chlorination bleach systems, chemical processing autoclaves, and high-temperature aerospace turbine assemblies.
